'When I accept myself just as I am, then I can change'. Carl Rogers

Thank you for visiting my website.  I am Linda, and I am so lucky to work as a counsellor, something I feel passionately about.

I strongly believe that we all have the capacity for change, but we need the right support to begin that process. Seeing a counsellor is very different from speaking to family or friends, who perhaps are involved in the situation, or want to fix things for you. Counsellors don't tell you what to do, but encourage and empower you to work through your difficulties to understand what you would like to change and why.

I am also qualified to practice EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), having studied under the London School of Clinical Communication and Hypnosis.

EMDR is often used in the treatment of trauma, phobias and addiction and is a type of therapy which helps you to work through difficult memories and emotions.  It is approved by NICE and is used within the NHS.

All forms of counselling will offer you a safe and confidential space to talk about the things in your life that cause pain, anxiety and discomfort.  As a counsellor, I will listen empathically, without judgement, and focus on really hearing what you are saying, both verbally and non-verbally. By exploring your concerns with me, you can develop a greater understanding of yourself, of others and of what is impacting on your life. This can bring a sense of relief and enlightenment which can help you to find how to move forward towards a future that you feel happier in.

Work with me in a way that suits you

I have a comfortable and easily accessible counselling room in the garden of my home in Christchurch.  We can meet face to face in complete confidence.  There is easy parking and level access, although there is a very small step into the room. I keep up to date with any advice or regulations regarding Covid 19 and adjust my working practices accordingly.

Or if you prefer, I offer sessions on line, so that you can speak to me from the comfort of your own home.  If you choose to do this, it is important that you have the privacy that you need, and that you won't be disturbed during our session.  It is also a good idea to have a drink, and maybe some tissues, to hand.

I offer sessions from 6.30 am to 8pm on Tuesdays or Thursdays.  5pm onwards on a Monday or daytime sessions on a Wednesday. Early morning or evening sessions can be useful to shift workers or those with caring or parental commitments.  Each session lasts for 1 hour, unless we have made a specific arrangement for a longer session.

Taking the first step to arrange to meet with a therapist can be daunting, but it is the gateway to taking control back over your life.
